Personal Property and Vehicle Exemptions

Florida law includes two ways to exempt personal property in general - one in the Florida Constitution and another in Florida Statutes.  

Article X, Section 4(a)(2) of the Florida Constitution provides a personal property exemption of $1,000.

Florida Statutes 222.25(4) provides for an additional $4,000 of exemption for personal property where a person does not receive any benefit from a real estate homestead exemption.

Florida Statutes 222.25(1) provides for the exemption of a vehicle to the exent of $1,000 in value.
